Race Check-In

Ever since we started Race Wallet, one thing has been crystal clear with our goal - all your races, all in one place.

That has been very clear since the beginning of our journey.

However, an ambitious goal takes a huge amount of work to get to the next checkpoint.

For us to move towards our goal, we have to be closer to you and your races.

How do we do that? Race Check-In.

What is Race Check-In?

Race Check-In is a new feature we're launching starting today that will allow you to check in for your race, whether you are going or not, using your bib number.

It may sound simple, but it opens up possibilities for us towards our goal. Hear me out.

When you are in a race, one of the identifiers organizers use to identify a participant is through the numbers on your chest, waist, or back - your bib number.

The marshals, timing technology, or any other identifying tool - also looks up to your bib number.

In other words, your bib number is your identity in a race.

Now let's talk about the possibilities a bit here.

How do you mostly get your photos? Bib number.

How do you mostly get your results? Bib number.

You get the idea.

What if we can bring those things to you in one place? That would be great, isn't it?

You don't have to look elsewhere anymore.

It's already in one place!

One step closer to a more connected running experience.

Race Check-In.

How Can I Check-In?

Checking in with your upcoming races will be available before the start of your races. Once you have your bib number, you can start going to your upcoming race on your Race Wallet account, and then you will be prompted to check in with your bib number.

To make it easy for you to identify which one of your races hasn't been checked in, there will be colors to determine the status.

Green is for races you are going.

Red is for races you aren't going.

Yellow is for races you haven't checked in.

It's as simple as that!

How Does It Work?

As I've said at the beginning of this blog, an ambitious goal takes a huge amount of work to get to the next checkpoint.

For us to make this available to all races we have the Race Wallet app, we need to get access to the event's system to be able to integrate it seamlessly.

Once we are integrated, we will be able to retrieve photos or the results via bib number. And a lot of cool things!

Huge work, right? We're going to make it.

Here's the good news.

Race Snaps is growing and getting part of other races! This means it can be the source for the photos without any infrastructure permission difficulty since it is within our ecosystem.

Photo mapping integration between systems can be easily done through bib numbers.

And guess what, we're already past our initial walks on that!

Will This Affect Race Receipt?

Race Receipt has been one of the features that recent new users have loved and you might be wondering will this affect Race Receipt moving forward?

Let's answer this differently.

There are two ways for us to create a Race Receipt:

1. For existing users, it will be auto-generated by the system at certain intervals. Learn more here: https://racewallet.app/blog/race-receipt

2. For non-existing users, can create their receipt through this URL: https://racewallet.app/receipt/create-your-own

For existing users, since it is auto-generated by the system, races that you haven't checked in will not be part of the generated Race Receipt.

This is so we can optimize the races included in the list. Fine-tuned.

You don't want to have a race you haven't run on the receipt right? We wouldn't be able to call it official after all.

So to answer the question above, for existing users, yes it will affect existing users to get a more fine-tuned Race Receipt. But for non-existing users, you won't be affected.

Other than that, the Race Receipt will remain as is.

Will Race Photos and Race Results Be Available Now?

As of writing this, our resources with race organizers and photographers are still limited. Thus, the data availability is not yet available to the majority of the races.

The reason we're introducing this now is that once we have the proper places set up, adding that data would be seamless.

This is one of the groundwork that we need to get done so we can easily support future work!

If you are a photographer and want to share your photos with us, feel free to message us on our social media accounts! We'd love to work with you.

To reiterate, moving forward, Race Snaps will be spearheading the race photos that will be available in the ecosystem.

Is This The Official Check-In For The Races?

Race Wallet started as a solution to track your races so you don't miss any of those.

Since that introduction, it has grown and added features that aim to be closer to you and your races so you don't miss a beat!

And so that thought of question will naturally arise.

Which is a good thing - since it will start becoming your ultimate race partner!

But as of now, Race Check-In in Race Wallet is not tied up to the check-in, if any, that each race will implement on its own.

Race Check-In is a personal check-in for you and your race.

That's the most important thing.

We aim to be part of other races and provide technological solutions for the betterment of the racing community.

What's Next?

As mentioned, this is a new feature that we will keep iterating and making it better to achieve our goal - all your races, all in one place.

We're limited on the data yet, but we aren't using that as an excuse to not make things great. We'll use it to our advantage!

It's an ambitious goal but we're ready to make that a reality.

One km at a time.

We hope you enjoy this new feature and we can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.

Stay tuned for more updates and improvements!
