We're now 5 kilometers into building Race Wallet, which means another update! Here are the things we think you'll love in this release.
Author Attributions Now Available for Blogs
Blogs are one of the most important pieces that we have to deliver better updates to everyone. It is where we talk about the changes and visions we have in store for Race Wallet.
This is why, starting on this release, all of the blogs that we will be publishing will now contain the author's information.
You might ask, why is that important?
It is important because we plan to allow other people from the Race Wallet community to write blog posts about it. Such as the features that they like, their own experience with using it, and many more!
This is to make sure we can credit them rightfully and equally.
It's the first step towards it.
Notification Banner
One of the problems in the past was that when there was an upcoming race or a new update, the race participant had to manually check if there was something new.
It's a bit frustrating because the update should be direct and prompt to each race participant.
It created a space where we can fill in and provide a solution.
Talk about a blessing in disguise.
And so, in the past few weeks, we've rolled out the ability for everyone to receive notifications on their profile.
It is a seemingly small feature to look at but this is a big step towards our goal of making your race experience better. And we've worked very hard to make it possible.
In the next updates, we will continue to polish the sending of timely notifications and keep you updated!
Enhanced Landing Page
In case you haven't noticed yet, we've updated our landing page especially the sections below to discuss more items in detail and provide more clarity on the available features of the application.
Here's what we've done:
We've updated the font from Inter to Mulish
There's just something about changing fonts that makes it more appealing. I guess it's the change in scenery.
Not saying that it should be changed every time.
Describe the key features much simpler
Previously, the key features were not designed to be easily digestible. I thought during that time that I was presenting it. But as I reviewed it once again, I found out that we can still simplify it and describe it with better intention.
The hierarchy of texts and the placement of illustrations - being alternate on the sides make it more digestible, unlike the previous design.
It works well even in mobile view.
Changed the section titles to be more of a question
The website is the first place that a user will visit and learn about Race Wallet. That is the importance of having a better website as it is the door between the user and Race Wallet.
This is why, we've changed the section titles to be more of a question to evoke questions as they are browsing the website.
Quick Add To Google Calendar
When I joined a tech virtual event recently, I noticed on the email, they have an option to add the event to my calendar.
I thought it would be cool to also have that option in Race Wallet as some of our users love using calendars to manage their daily plans in life.
Starting today, the quick add option to Google Calendar is now available to everyone!
Other calendars will be supported soon.
Auto-hide Race Confirmation Photo Section
The Race Confirmation Photo section is an optional section for race participants to upload their race confirmations when signed up for the races. Its goal is to provide a place for race participants to store it and access it when they need it during race kit claiming or any other race verification purposes.
This helps guarantee that you've successfully registered for the given race.
Given that it is optional by nature, some users can elect not to upload their race confirmations. And when they do, a big chunk of space is taken on the screen.
To improve this, we're now auto-hiding the section to maximize the limited space and provide a better experience to everyone.
Mobile App Ready?
Ever since the start of Race Wallet, one of the common questions that we get asked is where can they download the app.
Is it available on the App Store?
We hear and understand you.
In the next months, we are aiming to start releasing the 1st version of the iOS app that will be available on the App Store. We plan to start with iOS for now and work our way up to Android phones as well.
It's just not an easy task.
But, we're doing our best to have it at your fingertips in the next months.
Here are some snapshots:
